1990's Nostalgia
Whilst I ate my dressing and cranberries I binged out on 90s television and took a trip down nostalgia lane. It hit hard with; All That, Are You Afraid of the Dark and Living Single to name a few. Ode to the days of the scrunchies, slap bracelets and when we all wished Mr. Feeny was our teacher. It got me to thinking, who were my 1990 plus size celebrities and what have they been up to?
How we told the future!
1.) Lori Beth Denberg
If you are a true 90’s child or teen then you should just know who this is, but I will tell you anyways. Known for her work as one of the original OG's of the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All that; she supplied us with our Vital Information for our everyday life! She also played Lydia Liza Gutman on The Steve Harvey Show. Lori Beth Denberg is currently an ordained as a minister and is working on a new short called Lost Treasure of the Valley.
2.) Camryn Manheim
I knew her from her roles as attorney Ellenor Frutt on ABC the Practice, Delia Banks on CBS's Ghost Whisperer, as Elvis's mother, Gladys Presley in the 2005 mini-series Elvis. Wake Up, I'm Fat, Camryn's one women show was amazing and she also later turned it into a book. Something that always has stuck with me was her 1998 Emmy Award speech for best supporting actress in a drama series… THIS IS FOR ALL THE FAT GIRLS!
Camryn is currently filming the TV miniseries Waco and in post-production of All About Nina.
3.) Emme
Emme, gained worldwide fame as the first full-figured model chosen for People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People, first in 1994, then for a second time in 1999. I still remember the day I saw this, to see someone full sized chosen has one of the 50 most beautiful in People Magazine was something I thought I would never see.
Emme currently has a new book out called; Chicken Soup for the Soul: Curvy & Confident:
101 Stories about Loving Yourself and Your Body.

4.) Mia Amber Davis
I first saw Mia in the film Road Trip, in this film she played Rhonda who seduces Kyle. To see a black women who looked like me in her bra and panties on the film screen just blew mind. She was clam and confident and did not care what anyone one thought. Unfortunately this beautiful fellow curvy sister died on May 10, 2011 from pulmonary embolism—a blood clot in the lungs, Rest in Peace my sister.
So anyways I am going to continue to digest all of this fabulously food I have partaken in over the past few days and leave you with some of my 90’s memories.
Just my confessions,
Nikki
P.S. Who were some of your favorite 90’s stars?
