S/P LuLaRoe: A Plus Size Perspective

Good morning my sisters! About three weeks ago I was approached about modeling some clothing and blogging from a plus size prospective about a company called LuLaRoe. Before being approached by Kara, a independent rep for the company I had never heard of them. So before saying yes I went online and did my research. I read some negative and some positive post about LuLaRoe. I decide to say yes, because upon my review of their website and viewing their use of color and patterns really spoke to me. Anyone who knows me, knows I love all things bright and most things patterned. Transparency This post is sponsored by Kara and David independent LuLaRoe Consultants. LuLaRoe who? LuLaRoe was founded in 2003 by DeAnna Stidham, her company is about being comfortable and stylish at the same time. The LuLaRoe Collections consist of dresses, skirts, shirts, and leggings. The company use soft and stretchy fabrics and designs its own patterns. The collection can only be purchase their LuLaRoe consultant via social media outlets, “pop-up-stores” and home parties. in the spirit of always being honest and transparent with my readers LuLaRoe is an MLM company. LuLaRoe motto? “ Where Fashion Meets Comfort.” I received four pieces to model and review; they are the The Carly, The Irma, and two pairs of leggings.

The Carly is a swing dress that is fitted on top. I must say this is my favorite out of all of the items. I love that the dress is more on the conservative side and fits right in with my modest, modern, bohemian look that I am comfortable with. I like that the sleeves come all the way down to the elbow and the hand( feel) of the dress is soft. I really like the fact that it is longer in the back, because I tend to have issues with dresses riding up. I truly feel that this dress will work well on any body shape. If you are not into the cascading type of dresses, I suggest you add a belt to give it a more fitted look. A really pretty scarf or jacket will go great with the cut and style of the Carly Dress.

The Irma is a breezy tunic style shirt.I like the cut, fit and feel of this tunic and it is super comfortable and the hand is really soft. I must admit the red threw me off the tunic a bit, I am not a fan of red and I usually do not purchases clothing for my self with this much red. So for the purposes of this review I have modeled the tunic with the red leggings. For feature personal wear I will be wearing this tunic with a pair of dark denim jeans. I tried the tunic on with a pair of my jeans and I definitely like this style of top, with this color scheme with the jeans. As for the red legging I suggest wearing them with a neutral up top, for example a black or grey. Overall I like the Irma tunic and will be purchasing a couple, but just not in red.

Lastly I received two pairs of leggings, a solid pair (Red) and a pattern pair. I read all the hype online and guess what people, they do feel like butter! The legging are made with a high waist band, which kept all of my jiggle in place. The prints are wild, bright, fun and some time are hard to get your hands on. The print that I am wearing was a little out of my league, but the more I worn them the more I liked them. Upon my research in to the leggings before I received them, I read a lot of reviews from other plus size bloggers talking about a popping sound, holes and not fitting them, so I was a little worried. I must say I did not experience any of these issues, maybe I was just lucky to have a great consultants reach out to me. I truly believe that each individual consultant is responsible for the experience each person has.

Pros I like that there are new styles patterns often. I love the bold patterns and bright colors. LuLaRoe has created an opportunity for women to run their own business and to feel empowered! The company is charity friendly. Comfort is key for me. Quality, I super happy to feel how thick and soft the Irma top is, no undershirt needed. Versatility, all of their basic can be use to build upon many different outfit creations. Cons Sizing can be off. Sometimes items can be hard to get if you have a geographical limitations. You can not purchase clothing directly from website ( which would be helpful if your consultant does not have select items.) If you want to become a consultant your initial cost is very high. Conclusion Is LuLaRoe Plus size friendly? Yes. All of the items I received fit me very well, I am 5’11 and weigh 230 pounds and I must say I was really comfortable in all of the items. Do I think they have some more work to do in their plus size department, yes. I do recommend LuLaRoe hire some true to fit plus size fit models ( I will be glad to volunteer) to help better serve their plus size clients. I do think their Tall and Curvy leggings cater more towards Plus size girls like me who are not that blessed in the Butt and hip areas. Just my confessions, Nikki Xoxo
